27 A Reading Reflection 3

1) What was the general theme or argument of the book?
The general theme was about failure and how to maneuver failure into a path to success.
2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
It enhanced what I've learned in this class because I honestly have a fear of failure and a fear of others knowing I failed, especially those that look up to me. But this book solidified that failure is necessary for success, without it success won't happen.
3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
I would involve an activity where we try to implement things that maximize our personal energy for a week and see how well we're able to get things done for school/work.
4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectation?
The biggest surprised had to be when he said that every skill we gain will double your chances of success. This was interesting to me because I feel like it's easy to downplay certain skills we acquire if they don't directly help us in our career goals or have much meaning to us. But theres value in all skills. We never know when that hidden skill will be useful.

24A Venture Concept

Jennifer Gutierrez

Social Media Marketing Software

Opportunity
The opportunity is presented in individuals that are self-employed, small businesses, bigger businesses, business owners, influencers, and brands. The nature of the need is that whether the business is just starting out or has been well established the need for more clientele or exposure of the business will always be there. That reach will happen to its maximum through social media. Especially now with COVID-19, everything has become digital and social media marketing is the only way to market as we need to comply with social distancing laws. This market is defined geographically on an international standard. Social media is international just like this market. The need is just as international. The demographics are extremely open from age to gender, to religion. The market may not be open to those that are not able to pay for the software, but that is a demographic that can change according to the client’s current circumstance. This opportunity is pretty big, since businesses are everywhere, and everyone is trying to get others to get to become customers or clients.

Innovation
My innovation is a social media software that encompasses multiple social media platforms along with their engagement trends so that businesses and individuals can grow their engagement in the best way possible. They will be able to gain

Venture Concept
Clients would be drawn to this venture due to its reliability and adaptability to different businesses. It will guarantee some type of profit growth no matter what.

25A Whats Next

Existing Market.

What is next is planning the route for development of the venture and perfecting the business model.

  1. The first customer told me that I should  ask people what they’re looking for. In terms of marketing and social media management as of now, with everything going on.
  2. The second customer told me to create a team of “Guinea pigs,  for my venture.
  3. The third customer told me to market myself through social media as if I was a client to showcase what the software can do for others.

The most sense for my venture at this time is to make my venture known so that others will know it is available to them, and to show what it can do for them through myself and others.

New Market.

My venture would create value for people in this market because marketing through social media is going to be needed at this point.

  1. First customer told me that I should start researching the trends in businesses that have recently gone digital due to the virus and see how they could benefit from my venture.
  2. 2nd customer told me that I should start marketing my venture as soon as possible way before development is finished because there will be a huge demand for this especially during and after this quarantine.

I learned that in times of uncertainty or change this market is willing to take on new ventures to get the ball rolling on things.

This new market seems to be similarly attractive as my existing market because everything going digital has made it 10x as more necessary for online marketing, educating, and sharing of information. I was surprised at how aware this market was of this need being that is a fairly new one.

23A

1. Customization
2. Reliability
3. Educational
4. Accessibility
5. Organization
6. Unique
7. Demand
8. Adaptable
9. Secure
10. Well-Rounded

V – My software is valuable because it will guarantee some type of gain from exposure no matter what.
R – There is no other software like this on the market.
I – It’s difficult to copy because developing a software that encompasses engagement trends for multiple different software is difficult.
N – There are resources that can provide the same service only for individual platforms but without management and education features.

My top resource is reliability. It’s more important than others because it is the main reason why this software will be necessary. Clients will be able to rely on the software for management and information on the growth of their company. They can rely on this software to help them bring up their exposure and build their markets.

26A Celebrating Failure

This past semester I tried to become more organized. I did this by buying a calendar and a planner and making lists of what I had to get done. I would make extensive lists every day in my planner and was so hard on myself to do everything written. Every week I’d fail to do something and would have to push it back a few days or into the next week. It got to a point where I was so frustrated as to why I lacked the discipline to finish my lists. But then I realized that my point in starting this wasn’t to accomplish lists but to become more organized so that I could get more done not get everything done. I learned that I was growing just by the fact that I was setting goals for myself and keeping myself accountable. However, I needed to be realistic with my goals and be aware that my productivity levels would vary by day and circumstances.
Failure is a part of life, just another one of the motions. It’s hard but isn’t impossible to get through. It builds character and allows flaws to come to surface in order to
I think I handle failure to the best of my abilities. I do get upset and down at times, but I don’t let it consume me. I allow myself to feel what I’m feeling, then I move on, otherwise I’ll get stuck in the failure and never grow.

This class allowed me to realize that failure is necessary for growth. Without failure you have nowhere to go from. I might be more willing to take risks now, but it still depends on that risks I’m taking, I still like to be cautious.

28A Exit Strategy

1)    Identify the exit strategy you plan to make. Do you intend to sell your business in the next 5 years for a large return? Do you intend to stay with the business for several decades and retire? Do you intend to protect the venture as a family business, and pass it down to your children?
a.     As of right now I think that I’m going to stay with the business for a while and then retire.
2)    Why have you selected this particular exit strategy?
a.     I decided this because I see the value in this type of business and it will definitely grow as more things become digital, so I definitely wouldn’t sell it any time soon. However, it’s possible I might change my mind and make the venture a family business, it all depends on how things go.
3)    How do you think your exit strategy has influenced the other decisions you've made in your concept? For instance, has it influenced how you have identified an opportunity? Has it influenced your growth intentions or how you plan to acquire and use resources?
a.     I think my exit strategy has influenced my growth intentions because I don’t think I’d have much interest in developing the venture too far if my plans were to just sell it in 5 years. I want to be able to see how far I can take this venture and I’d love to see it grow into something amazing.

21A Reading Reflection 2

1)    What was the general theme or argument of the book?
a.    This book is about the importance of your mindset and how it becomes a vessel for our success in life or for our lack thereof.  It is important to have a growth mindset in order to develop and get better at something. Having a fixed mindset seeking validation will hinder you in many ways.
2) How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003?
The book connected with what I’m learning in this class because it really enhanced the type of mindset that is necessary to be an entrepreneur. Being an entrepreneur with a fixed mindset is somewhat impossible. An entrepreneur is a lot of growing, changing and improving.
3) If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve?
I would design an exercise where we would try to evaluate what time of mindset we have; a fixed one or a growth one. I would create a small experiment where we all try around 3 different things that we’ve never tried before and see if we manage to be able to keep practicing until we get better, until we get it right, or if we give up.
4) What was your biggest surprise or 'aha' moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations?
What I learned that surprised me was that those that have a mindset fit for growth allow themselves the room to grow without stressing over their superficial success. Their success is growth. That really stood out to me because I feel like I had always been a fixed individual and I have become more lenient with myself but at times can feel unaccomplished because my superficial success isn’t apparent even though I’m growing in some way. Reading made me realize that I am being successful, just because I’m growing.

19A

1.     Me
a.     I am a student, future social worker, social seller, social buyer, and social media manager. My skills I would say are being able to see the whole picture when many others don’t or helping others see different perspectives, I also speak Spanish, I feel like that’s an important skill because I am able to expand the individuals I network with. My aspirations are to help and encourage people. In terms of this business concept, it would play a role in my life because I’d personally would be able to use it for my current employers, and I would be able to use it personally to build my brand. Also, I would be helping others reach their goals which is something I’d enjoy doing. Speaking Spanish allows me to expand my market initially and to market myself in both languages.
2.     What am I offering to customers?
a.     I am offering an all-encompassing social media marketing and managing software to reach more clientele and gain exposure, in turn creating more profit. This would become international at some point.
3.     Who am I offering it to?
a.     I am offering it to small businesses, corporations, startups, bloggers, influencers, companies, organizations, and individuals. In the English speaking and Spanish speaking market. Hoping to expand to more languages in the future.
4.     Why do they care?
a.     They care because social media managing and marketing is time consuming, expensive, confusing, and hard to do on multiple platforms. Also, because social media is where they would reach the highest exposure.
5.     What are my core competencies?
a.     I don’t think there is a made software that encompasses most special media’s and with their engagement trends, education tips for social media marketing, social media managing hire, and content tools. I would be a unique and of a kind business.

I believe that these elements fit very well together. I think the concept once developed further can be adjusted and customized to fit almost every specific need within the overall unmet need of my customers. The software will not be a one-fit for all because that’s not realistic and wouldn’t work honestly. I think many will see the value this concept would have for them and the return profit would make it even more worth-while.

The feedback I received was very positive, I didn’t receive feedback that would make me want to or have to change this idea napkin, so I didn’t do much tweaking. What I did get from the feedback was that due to how social media is used today that this would be viable service for many.

1.     I spoke to an individual who works at a local marketing company.
a.     I put them as a domain expert
b.     I looked up top marketing companies in the area and emailed them.
c.     We just exchanged information.
d.     This person allowed me to see what my market needs, looks for, pays for, and how the company presents its services to them.
2.     I spoke to a network marketing mentor
a.     I put them as market expert
b.     I asked a friend working in network marketing to allow me to speak to one of their professional mentors.
c.     We just exchanged information.
d.     This person allowed me to see what the important aspects of marketing are, what people look for the most in terms of outsourcing for marketing.
3.     I spoke to an individual that sells marketing time and posts  on a huge Instagram page for influencer engagement.
a.     I put them as a supplier
b.     I did some research on Instagram to find a reputable and authentic Instagram page without bots or bought followers and Dm’ed then emailed them.
c.     We just exchanged information.
d.     This person allows me to see what people needing engagement are willing to pay for engagement and what they are putting out as marketing posts.
Reflection: This experience has shown me that sometimes you have to be intentional with your networking and not just network with everyone because an opportunity might present itself. It’s also important to network with a plan.

My prototypical customer would be woman in her early 20’s to early 30’s. Her goals are to be organized and efficient. She is outgoing, loves fashion, cooking, and working out. She drives a cute but affordable car, like a Toyota corolla or a Nissan Altima but she has to have a black leather interior and silver exterior. She loves posting her homecooked meals on her Instagram story and sharing relatable quotes. She loves to watch The Bachelor and Power. She doesn’t have kids and is currently single living their best life. Her favorite books to read are motivational books.

My customer and I are very similar in terms of age, gender, and interests. My customer is also someone I’d personally would be friends with. Relating to your customers and creating relationships is very important. You’re not selling a product or service, you’re selling you. So, the more you can relate the easier you’ll be able to initiate relationships

16A

1. I am able to get people to open up easily, so people feel like they can trust me.
2. Ability to find the errors in things or situations that others may not see.
3. A huge passion for whatever I believe in.
4. Ability to see things from multiple angles and perspectives.
5. Highly intuitive.

1.  My roommate Maddy thinks that I am very quick to be able to find what could go wrong n a situation even when she would have never thought of it. She thinks I put a lot of focus on quality, because I value it.

2. My cousin Gabby thinks that I am a fast learner and a good problem solver when I have time to evaluate all sides of a situation.

3. My cousin Erick thinks I have wisdom beyond my years because I can step outside of myself and see things in ways that maybe he had not thought of before.

4. My friend Javon thinks I have a good judgement of situations and evaluating whether something will be a good idea or not. He also said I have quick intuition when it comes to finding out other's motives.

5. My brother Chris think that I am very true to myself, and can be intense when speaking or defending something that is important to me.

Reflections: I think the way I see my self and the way others do isn't too far apart from each other.
I don't think I would make any corrections to the list because I feel like my answers were genuine and pretty accurate.

Interview 1: Online interior design blogger
a.     She does her picking based on style and compatibility. What is important to her is that whatever she uses to build her brand and provide her with more engagement fits the brand she’s creating and is compatible with what she does.
b.     She mostly would buy online just because her brand is via online forum. Depending on the price of something she’ll finance or pay in full.
c.     Results is what helps her determine whether the purchase was good or bad.

Interview 2: Online beauty social seller
a.     She does her picking based on price and reviews.
b.     She would buy online or in store but for this specific need she would buy online since her business is online.
c.     Results and longevity is how she said she evaluates If a purchase was good or bad.

Interview 3: Up and coming recording artist
a.     He picks based on reputation and stats. What is important to him is an established company with loyal clientele to base the reputation of the company + service/product.
b.     He would mostly buy in person, seeing that the services he would need are mostly relationship based.
c.     Results is also what he said helps him determine whether a purchase was good or bad.

Conclusions:
In terms of alternative evaluation and purchase decision, this segment depends on their specific focus and goal to evaluate when they’re purchasing. What they purchase has to fit them best. In terms of post-purchase evaluation, the results of the purchase, the implementation of the service or good is what helps them determine if it was bad or good. However, I feel like results in a general sense is how many people determine if a purchase was good or not.

14 A Halfway Reflection

1)    Tenaciousness is a competency. What are the behaviors that you have used (or developed) to keep up with the requirements of this course?
a.    I finally bought myself a calendar and have been writing my assignments not only in my planner but in my calendar as well and I have been striving to complete them ahead of time in most cases.
2)    Tenaciousness is also about attitude. Talk about a moment or two when you felt like "giving up." What pulled you through? Do you feel like you've developed a tenacious attitude during the past two months? What experience or experiences most contributed to this?
a.    So, I can be very inconsistent when it comes to going to the gym. I love it and I love the results, but I get lazy, I get tired, I just don’t want to go or put in all my effort during my workout. However, the past 2 months I have pushed myself to go to the gym 5 times a week to reach my goals for spring break. Even on days that I was just so tired and didn’t want to wake up early, I went. During this time, I realized that my results are worth sacrifices. I won’t get what I’m aiming for by doing my usual routine and by taking the easy route.
3)    Three tips. What are three tips you would offer next semester's student about (1) fostering the skills that support tenacity and (2) developing the 'tenacious mindset' ?
a.    I would 100% recommend doing assignments on time and scheduling your time to watch the lectures if you’re not attending class.
b.    To not get to too caught up on perfection. Your effort is valuable, perfection is unattainable.
c.    Keep yourself accountable, set goals for yourself and make sure you’re doing what you’re supposed to.

12 A

1.     Segment
                                               i.     My segment would be millennial social media influencers with smaller followings.
2.     Need Awareness
a.     The 1st individual is trying to become a fashion/clothing sponsored influencer and is trying to build her blog. Many clothing companies will not send clothes to an influencer for free unless they have a big following so, their need is to create a bigger following.
b.     2nd individual is trying to reach more individuals to watch their workout videos and tips in order to launch a training program in the near future and gain supplement sponsorships.
c.     The third individual is a travel vlogger. She emphasized the importance of engaging with as many viewers throughout her platforms to gain more views on YouTube. She’s trying to monetize her videos to gain more profit since YouTube pays out according to views and subscriber count.
3.     Information Search
a.     1. The first person said that the first thing they do to find to find a solution to their problem is they ask friends and family to spread the word, in terms of reposting, retweeting, or sharing their profiles.
b.     2nd person said they look for profiles that do profile promoting for money. In this case, they’ll pay a rate for their profile to be posted on a page with thousands of followers.
c.     3rd person said they overload their pictures and stories with hashtags to reach more engagement.
4.     Conclusion
a.     In terms of need awareness and information search this segment is that gaining a big following is not only important to the influencers but to the companies that seek out influencers to market their products or services. The influencers aware that companies will see value in them if they are able to bring in more profit through maximum exposure.

10A Elevator Pitch

Posted by Jennifer G at 1:03 AM 3 comments:
Email ThisBlogThis!Share to XShare to FacebookShare to Pinterest

9A

1. I asked my friend who is an influencer on Instagram. From what it would look like, she'd have the need to grow her engagement and reach on her platforms and would need help with management since she also works full time. However, she is focusing her engagement solely on Instagram and even though she has monetized her profile in some areas, she more or less influences out of a hobby, maximum profit isn't her main concern.
2. I asked my aunt, who has her own franchise and is in need to grow her reach for clientele and future employees. However, she is hesitant to get on social media. She doesn’t know how to work around it.
3. I asked my new nail artist in Jacksonville. She loves the idea and feels like she needs to reach maximum engagement on all platforms to broaden her clientele.
4. I asked this personal trainer that was promoting himself on Instagram and YouTube.
5. I asked the owner of this new family Italian restaurant that opened up near my house. He felt like the idea was logical and good to be implemented by businesses. He pays to be featured in the local magazine and feels like this would be a better alternative to bring in more customers.

What I gathered from these interviews is that more reach on social medias is equal to more profit, more clients, more benefits, and more employment. It seems like the need is high, but those who aren’t aware of the money in social media would be hesitant to try. Those who may seem to have the need from an outside perspective may not even want to monetize. Not everyone on social media is interested in making profit from their pages.

Outside the Boundary

Person 1
-No need to reach or manage social media on multiple platforms
-Doesn’t want to monetize.

Person 2
-No internal need to expand on socials
-Hesitant to get on social media

Inside

Person 3
-      Need to reach as many people to expand her clientele
-      She is an independent nail artist; she doesn’t work in a salon so her social media would more or less be her resume and portfolio
Person 4
-      Reach engagement for more signups, and manages clients on social media sometimes
-      He does not work at a gym, and as engagement grows clients and sponsorships would also grow
Person 5
-      Stop paying for magazine feature, grow awareness of new restaurant, bring in customers.
-      Restaurant is new so people come in by word of mouth since reputation isn’t established.
